Introduction

The spark plugs are accessible once the intake manifold is removed.

It is best to do this operation with the engine hot or warm. You can apply penetrating oil around the spark plugs to make them easier to remove.

  1.
disconnect the battery for safety

remove the engine cover (one clip above and one screw on the side, 13mm wrench)

blow around the collector

    • remove the engine cover (one clip above and one screw on the side, 13mm wrench)

    • blow around the collector

  2.
unclip the clamp holding the breather hose using a flat screwdriver

disconnect the breather

proceed in the same way for the gas intake pipe to the EGR valve

  3.
undo the screw on the resonator, 13mm wrench

Go under the engine.

    • undo the screw on the resonator, 13mm wrench

    • Go under the engine.

    • and the clip on the battery holder

    • There is a bolt on my car but I don't think it's original, there must have been a clip.

    • unscrew the air distributor hose clamp, 7mm wrench and remove the hose

  4.
disconnect the vacuum hose from the air doser

disconnect the EGR valve plug

disconnect the vacuum hose from the EGR valve
    • disconnect the vacuum hose from the air doser

    • disconnect the EGR valve plug

    • disconnect the vacuum hose from the EGR valve

    • I made a marker mark on one of the pipes to reconnect correctly.

  5.
unscrew the nut holding the spark plug power wire, 8mm wrench and disconnect the 2 wires

unscrew the 4 collector retaining screws, Allen keys 5 and 6

lift the collector to remove it
    • unscrew the nut holding the spark plug power wire, 8mm wrench and disconnect the 2 wires

    • unscrew the 4 collector retaining screws, Allen keys 5 and 6

  6.
cover the air intake with a rag and blow around the spark plugs

unscrew the nuts above each spark plug, 7mm wrench

and remove the power cord
    • cover the air intake with a rag and blow around the spark plugs

    • unscrew the nuts above each spark plug, 7mm wrench

    • and remove the power cord

  7.
The spark plugs have a breaking torque of 35N.m. I removed them using a torque wrench to avoid breaking them.

adjust the wrench to 30N.m and fit the 10mm long socket

unscrew the spark plug

  9.
blow with a blower

Most of the dirt has already been removed before the spark plug was removed but I like to give it one last clean.

screw the spark plug in by hand

  11.
install the power wire on the 4 spark plugs

screw the 4 nuts, 7mm key

  12.
remove the cloth

put the collector in place

I took the opportunity to clean it because the EGR valve had clogged it up quite a bit.

put the breather hose in place

Replace the collar and lock it using the pliers

There is a specific tool but pliers work very well.

    • do the same for the EGR valve pipe

  14.
connect the air pipes (EGR and air doser) respecting the direction

connect the solenoid valve plug (EGR)

Connect the 2 power wires (the + to the spark plugs) to the collector and screw the nut, 8mm wrench
