There is no manual bleeding to be done. Put the key in and press the start button without pressing the clutch pedal so as not to start. Wait a minute without doing anything. And then you can start.

Thanks Nicolas for this tutorial.

I have just changed the diesel filter on my 118D E87 N47 engine from December 2008.

On the old original BMW filter reference 13327811227, it is also noted MAHLE KL 169/4. If you want to buy original quality, you will have to opt for the MAHLE brand (or KNECHT which is the same company) with the reference KL 169/4D. Two gaskets are supplied with the new filter: the very thin flat gasket mentioned in the tutorial and a small gasket that can replace the old one on the housing that will fit into the filter (see the 3rd photo step 3).

To avoid having too much air in the circuit, I had fun filling the new filter with diesel (with caps to close the filter while installing it). I pressed the Start button for 1 second (without engaging the clutch), waited 1 minute (repeated the operation a 2nd time). When starting, the starter works for 3 seconds, then the engine finally starts (this seems long because it always starts at the quarter turn normally!)

There is no fuel filter in a gasoline engine…

Hello, for priming, do you have to hold down for 1 minute? Or just hold down and wait 1 minute?

THANKS

Why after changing the fuel filter do you have to put the key in and "press start and stop without pressing the clutch so as not to start and finally wait 5 minutes to start"?

Because the automatic purge is done like this
