Introduction

This tutorial explains how to change the exterior silentblocs of the front anti-roll bar on a Clio 2 1.9D

  1. 
Unscrew (without unscrewing) the wheel bolts and raise the front of the vehicle using a jack. Place a jack stand on each side. For added safety, it is possible to place wooden blocks on the rear wheels.

Remove the front wheels.

Remove the front wheels.
    • Unscrew (without unscrewing) the wheel bolts and raise the front of the vehicle using a jack. Place a jack stand on each side. For added safety, it is possible to place wooden blocks on the rear wheels.

    • Remove the front wheels.

Place a jack under the suspension ball joint to compress the suspension. Raise about 5 cm.

Place the second jack under the anti-roll bar. This allows you to support the bar and safely remove the lower part of the silentbloc.
    • Place a jack under the suspension ball joint to compress the suspension. Raise about 5 cm.

    • Place the second jack under the anti-roll bar. This allows you to support the bar and safely remove the lower part of the silentbloc.

Hold the screw using a torx key or a 40 torx bit. Release and unscrew the nut using a 13 flat or ring spanner.

Remove the lower part of the silentbloc using a large flat screwdriver.
    • Hold the screw using a torx key or a 40 torx bit. Release and unscrew the nut using a 13 flat or ring spanner.

    • Remove the lower part of the silentbloc using a large flat screwdriver.

Lower the second jack to lower the anti-roll bar.

Remove the intermediate part of the silentbloc using multi-grip pliers.
    • Lower the second jack to lower the anti-roll bar.

    • Remove the intermediate part of the silentbloc using multi-grip pliers.

    • Remove the upper part of the silentbloc as well as the screw. Simply pull the assembly upwards.

  5. 
Fit the upper part of the silentbloc and the screw.

Put the intermediate part in place.
    • Fit the upper part of the silentbloc and the screw.

    • Put the intermediate part in place.

    • Raise the jack to put the anti-roll bar back in position.

    • Insert the lower part of the silentbloc. Engage the lower nut by hand. Hold the screw using a torx key or a torx bit of 40. Screw and lock the nut using a flat or ring spanner of 13.

    • Remove the two jacks, starting with the one on the anti-roll bar.

    • Go back to step 2 to complete the other side of the vehicle.

Replace the wheels and tighten the screws as much as possible. Lower the vehicle and tighten the wheel screws.
    • Replace the wheels and tighten the screws as much as possible. Lower the vehicle and tighten the wheel screws.

It doesn't happen like that at all. You have to compress everything because you'll never be able to put the nut on.
