Changing the exhaust line on a Renault 4L (silencer in the wing)

With the vehicle on the ground, loosen the left front wheel mounting nuts by one turn.

Raise the vehicle and complete wheel removal

Loosen the clamp holding the swan neck => silencer connection

Unscrew the 2 silent blocks (torn off in the photo). The red silent block, the 2 nuts are visible from the outside, the green one, the connecting nut to the chassis is located under the floor carpet

Pull on the silencer (away from the car, in the same axis as when removing a wheel) to extract the complete line (Do not hesitate to pull "hard") the rust tends to weld the swan neck-silencer connection

Open the 2 nuts securing the swan neck and remove it

Compare the elements of the old line and the new one

Pre-assemble the silencer + the elbow piece (return of the wheel arch) as well as the rest of the line

Fit the new gooseneck and tighten the clamp

Place the pre-assembled assembly in place and fit it into the swan neck, tighten the fixing collar

Fit the rest of the line, tighten the fixing collar (green) and put the silent blocks in place and tighten them (red)
