Introduction
The cabin filter must be replaced regularly to ensure fresh and healthy air in the passenger compartment every 2 years under normal use (follow the maintenance log)

No disassembly in this step, just a marking

All operations are on the passenger side at the glove box level

The plate under the glove box will be removed
-
The bottom of the glove box will be dismantled

The cabin filter hatch is located on the left under the center console

The parts to be dismantled are made of plastic, do not force, risk of breakage

Disassembly of the 2 plastic rivets
-
Use a small flathead screwdriver to pull the center portion of the rivet out
-
Then pull the widest part of the rivet
-
Unlocking the 3 plastic hooks
-
Push with a flat screwdriver on the plastic hooks to release the plate
-
Store the plate and the 2 rivets so as not to lose them and not to damage the plate

Unscrew the 2 size 15 torx screws

Unscrew the size 15 torx screw below

Do not force

Slide the bottom of the glove box down and remove it from under the glove box.

Put away the bottom of the glove box and the 3 screws so as not to lose them and not to damage it.

The cabin filter housing is located behind the hose
-
Pull the air hose down to give access to the filter hatch (about 5 cm, no more).

Once the hose is lowered, do not attempt to close the glove box as this may force the mechanism.

Open the cabin filter hatch. The hatch is securely fastened, you need to pull the tab vigorously. Opening will be easier if you use your left hand.

Remove the first filter, pull vigorously to the right while twisting the filter to facilitate removal

Raise the second filter

Extract the second
-
Inspect with a lamp and vacuum with a vacuum cleaner if necessary

To purify the air conditioning, you can also use a special car air conditioning treatment before reinstalling the two filters.

Check the marking on the filter and install the filter with the arrow towards you (air flows from the engine to the passenger compartment) see red arrow

To facilitate insertion you can twist the filter slightly

Insert the first filter with the tab on the outside

The position of the tab is very important otherwise the next time you replace it, removing the filter will be very difficult.

Lower the first filter to make room for the second

Do the same for the second filter, always paying attention to the direction and especially to the tab.

Close the filter access hatch

Reassemble the hose to its initial position.

Raise the bottom of the glove box.
-
Screw the bottom of the glove box with 2 Torx 15 screws at the top and one at the bottom

Clip the plate under the glove box
-
Reinstall the 2 rivets

Very good tutorial, detailed as desired. I used it in addition to the automotive technical review which does not mention all the subtleties. However, the RTA offers a complete disassembly of the glove box which effectively gives better access to the hatch and allows for good cleaning in the process.
Excellent, well-documented tutorial. It's true that you have to count an hour between going to get the torx screws underneath and contorting yourself like a madman. A little tip, get yourself a pair of pliers to get the filter tabs. You need to be patient to install the second filter above the first (put it straight above the other and use both hands). Finally, a zero point for the engineers who designed this type of ventilation and accessibility. In my 307, replacement in 10 seconds...
The day when the “engineers” (note the “) will be obliged to do an internship to do this filter replacement themselves, it is a safe bet that the assembly will be more accessible in the next model…in any case, bravo to the author of this tutorial!
I totally agree. I would even say that it is a shame to design things like that. Indeed, it is a maintenance operation, called to be repeated many times. We can imagine that by making things complicated, they think they are forcing people to contact a professional. But in relation to these professionals, it is also a shame, because they are also obliged, they too, to contort themselves in all directions! I find it unacceptable that these "engineers" do not care at all about those who will come after them. After me the deluge... or the galley!
BE CAREFUL WITH THE FILTERS, SOME ARE MORE STIFF AND SO EASIER TO INSTALL.
The AH 261-2 purflux filters are too flexible, too light and really difficult to position correctly without damaging them....
