Introduction

This tutorial explains step by step how to change the battery on a Clio 3 phase 2 from 2012. The different steps are illustrated with photos taken during the battery replacement.

  1. 
Open the left front door and pull the lever towards you. This will unlock the hood which can then be opened from the outside.

    • Open the hood.

Remove the two black plastic covers by pressing the clips and gently pulling each cover upwards.

Undo the nut on the negative terminal with a 10 mm open-end wrench, then spread the terminal with a screwdriver to remove it.

Remove the two nuts from the positive terminal, then remove the plate underneath.

    • Remove the two nuts from the positive terminal, then remove the plate underneath.

  4. 
Disconnect the gas exhaust hose from the battery.

Remove the square shaped battery retainer using the 13 socket.

    • Remove the battery from its location.

  5. 
Once the old battery is out of its location, it is easy to remove the positive terminal lug using a 10 mm flat wrench.

    • Put the terminal you just removed from the old one back on the new battery.

  6. 
Place the new battery in its location.

Perform the previous operations in reverse order to reassemble the new battery.
