Introduction
Unlike most Yaris models which have a horizontal filter, pre-2007 Yaris 2 1.3 VVT-I models have a vertical filter. Find out how to easily replace it.

By pulling the movable part of the box (the one where the large pipe is attached) upwards and forwards, you will be able to open it and remove the filter.

Compare the old and new filters to verify that they have the same dimensions.

Place the new filter in place of the old one. Check that the seal is correctly positioned all around the box. The larger side of the filter should face forward.

Close the box. It has two spurs which must each be placed in their support respective.
