Introduction

I have owned a 2008 Mercedes B-Class for two years and I just noticed that the air filter is very dirty. So I am going to replace it with a new one.

  1.
Pull the red handle under the steering wheel above the pedals.

Pull the gray handle to the left of the star under the engine hood.

Lift the engine hood, unfold the yellow metal rod and place it in its notch.

  2.
Unscrew the three cover screws using a T25 Torx key.

No need to remove them, leave them on the lid.

Pull the cover forward (there are three notches on the back) and tilt it to the left. You can now see the filter.

  3.
Remove the air filter from its housing while holding the cover with one hand.

The box is now empty.

  4.
Clean the inside with a damp cotton cloth and remove any objects present. (I found dead leaves.)

While the inside is drying, compare the old and new filters. (They should be the same size.)

You have to press firmly on the edges of the filter (in orange in the photo) to put it in place.

  6.
Push the cover back into its three notches.

Tighten the three screws using the T25 Torx key.

You have to screw it in until the cover touches and this for all three screws.

  7.
Fold back the yellow metal rod and put it back in its place correctly.

Release the hood to a height of approximately 20 cm to close it.

The work is done.

Conclusion

The operation went well. I'll be fine for a few years!
