Introduction

Here's how to change the air filter on a Modus 1.5 dci from 2004

  1.
Once the hood is open, remove the 2 engine covers located at the bottom of the windshield to access the air filter.

For the upper engine cover, unscrew the 4 screws using a size 40 torx key. (photo 2)

For the lower engine cover, unscrew the 6 screws using a size 10 open-end wrench (English wrench). Next to each screw is a number; do not pay attention to it when disassembling, it is only useful when reassembling. (photo 3)

Pull the hood towards you.

The air filter is now accessible.

Once the filter and its frame are out of the box, remove the filter from its frame. The filter is flexible and can be folded like an accordion without risk of damage.

Before installing the new filter, make sure that it is identical to the old one: length, width, height.

  7.
Roughly clean the bottom of the air filter box by hand. Do not dwell on meticulous cleaning because the air filter will prevent these impurities from passing to the engine in any case.

    • Place the new filter into the plastic frame.

    • Identify the direction of the chassis before sliding it into the box. You can clearly see the correct direction of the chassis in the video.

    • Once the air filter and its frame are fully embedded in the box, press the assembly upwards so that there is a clearance between the bottom of the filter frame and the box, of about 1 centimeter. On the video you can see that you can almost pass a finger through it.

    • Then, put the box cover back in place, noting the direction of assembly. In the video, you can clearly see the 2 tabs on the cover, whose role is to fit between the bottom of the chassis and the box, so as to hold the chassis and the filter upwards.

    • Push on the hood until you hear the "CLICK" of the 2 right and left clips coming into position.

    • Visually check that the clips are in place.

  8.
Refit the lower engine cover, using a size 10 open-end wrench. It is important to respect the tightening order of the 6 screws. The numbers are written on the part next to each screw, just like in photo 1.

Then reassemble the upper engine cover using a size 40 torx key for the 4 screws.

    • That's it, it's over!
