Introduction

Process for cleaning/changing the air filter on Renault 19 (R19) 1.9d phase 2.

  1. 
Open the hood of the vehicle and locate the air filter housing, located between the fan and the expansion tank.

Unscrew the nine Torx screws holding the top of the case. (second image)

Remove it and reveal your air filter.

    • Remove it and reveal your air filter.

Remove the filter, being careful not to let dust or other dead leaves fall into the hole. (circled in blue) which is none other than the engine air intake.

Check the condition of the filter, which should ideally be changed, or in the meantime, cleaned by carefully blowing it over.

Clean the inside of the housing, carefully removing the dirt that systematically accumulates under the filter (third image) always being careful not to let anything enter the air intake.
    • Remove the filter, being careful not to let dust or other dead leaves fall into the hole. (circled in blue) which is none other than the engine air intake.

    • Check the condition of the filter, which should ideally be changed, or in the meantime, cleaned by carefully blowing it over.

    • Clean the inside of the housing, carefully removing the dirt that systematically accumulates under the filter (third image) always being careful not to let anything enter the air intake.

    • For peace of mind, place a clean cloth in the intake port to protect it.

Put the filter back in place, remembering to remove any cloth you may have used during cleaning.

Close the case, remembering the ninth screw.
