Introduction

Changing the spark plugs on a Ford Ka II DE 2009 1.2 69 hp

  1. 
Replacement of the 4 spark plugs with 4 NGK brand spark plugs

I use a 1/2 ratchet with extension + a 16 mm long socket to unscrew 4 spark plugs

I use a 3/8 ratchet with extension + a 10 mm socket to unscrew the two air box mounting screws

Disconnect the pipe that returns the oil vapor to the intake (breather)

The air box is held in place by a rubber pad on the back, you just have to pull it upwards to remove it.

I proceed spark plug by spark plug, in order to avoid any errors in the ignition harness, I start with the driver's side cylinder.

    • Place the socket and the extension in order to loosen the first spark plug.

Compare your new spark plugs with your old ones

Replace the spark plug in its well. It is essential to do the first turns by hand, this will avoid damaging the thread!

Finish tightening with the torque wrench. The manufacturer recommends tightening to 21 NM.

    • Re-attach the ignition harness to the coil and spark plug then move on to the second cylinder

    • Repeat the operation, loosening, tightening by hand then finishing with the torque wrench.

    • Do the same for cylinders 3 and 4, the procedure is identical as for the first cylinder

Then screw the two air box fixing screws back in.
