Introduction
Tutorial for changing the front brake pads and brake discs on a Suzuki Swift II 1.3i
Parts

-
We will start with one wheel. We will then have to repeat the entire tutorial on the other wheel.
-
To remove a wheel: Remove your hubcap if you have one, by simply pulling on it.
-
In your trunk, under the carpet, you will usually find a key designed to unscrew the 4 nuts. Unscrew them when the tire is on the ground without removing them completely.
-
Use a jack to raise the front of your vehicle. To do this, place the jack in the notch provided on each side of the vehicle.
-
When the car is lifted, you can remove your 4 nuts that hold the wheel as well as the latter by pulling on it
-
-
-
To change the brake pads and discs, first unscrew the lower bolt of the caliper. To do this, use the ratchet with the 13mm socket and the 15mm open-end wrench if necessary. Remove the bolt.
-
Second, rotate the caliper on the axis of the upper screw. If it is too tight and does not allow it to rotate, unscrew it slightly while leaving it in place
-
-
-
Unscrew the two caliper bracket screws with the 17 mm socket wrench, starting with the bottom one.
-
Then remove the top screw
-
-
-
Remove the caliper bracket and hang it up.
-
Be careful not to damage the cable
-
-
-
To remove the brake disc, you must unscrew the 4 screws that hold it in place.
-
Then remove the disc by tapping on it and behind it with a hammer.
-
-
-
Check the correspondence between the old disk and the new one.
-
Put the new disc in place respecting its direction and screw in the screws to hold it in place.
-
-
-
Replace the caliper bracket
-
Tighten the screws using the 17 mm socket wrench (start with the top one)
-
-
-
Remove the old brake pads by levering them with a wrench and pulling them out by hand.
-
Remove the old noise-canceling pads by pulling them. Replace the new noise-canceling pads by pressing firmly on them.
-
-
-
Check the correspondence between the old and new pads
-
Check the direction and replace the new brake pads by inserting them into the notch of the anti-noise pads. Press firmly to engage them.
-
-
-
Using a piston pusher, push the latter back because with the new thickness of the brake pads, it needs more opening to be able to reposition it later.
-
-
-
Close the brake caliper, then tighten the caliper screw(s) using the ratchet with a 13 mm socket.
-
-
-
Replace the wheel by screwing it back in a cross pattern (top, bottom, left, right). Now repeat the entire tutorial on the other front wheel.
-
When the brake discs and brake pads have been changed on both wheels, press the brake pedal several times to put the pistons back in place.
-
Do not brake too hard during the first uses. It takes time for the pads to create the first scratches on the discs.
