Introduction
"tutorial made on a clio2 phase1 1.9dti from 2001"
A burning smell in the passenger compartment, your ventilation motor (air blower) has certainly taken a good bath.
No more heating or ventilation, this tutorial may be useful to you.

Behind this cover is the air blower (heating fan) and its resistor. The next step is to remove this cover.
-
-
-
press the center of the plastic rivet with a flat screwdriver for example to then be able to remove it with your fingers.
-
Remove the rubber seal by gently pulling upwards
-
Push back the 2 plastic clips with the pusher while lifting the cover with the other fingers
-
All you have to do is pull the cover in the direction of the blue arrow
-
-
-
Now we have to put another plastic part which is intended to guide the water from the windshield. So I named this part "gutter"
-
We push aside with the thumb in the direction of the arrow and lift with another finger upwards.
-
Press in the direction of the green arrow...
-
...and then slide the gutter
-
-
-
we now see the air blower that we want to change.
-
Disconnect the first connector by starting by pulling the red tab then the connector in the direction of the red arrow.
-
Below is a 2nd connector. Use a flat screwdriver to lift the small tab on the right and then remove this connector.
-
-
-
You now need to remove the 2 screws with a 6mm flat wrench.
-
You can then take out the air blower.
-
Clean the compartment well and especially the hole that allows the water to drain (green arrow) otherwise your blower will take a bath.
-
In this last photo. The old and the new blower equipped with their resistance. Be careful to choose the model according to your vehicle. (with or without air conditioning)
-
-
-
The last step is to install the resistor.
-
We fix the resistance with a 6mm socket (we recover the screw on the old model)
-
We pass the wires through the guides and connect the plug by spreading it with 2 fingers as in the photo.
-
-
-
All you have to do is go back up by following the reverse steps.
-
When reassembling, you will need to tilt the blower by approximately 45° to orient the tab in the intended opening. (red square)
-
Small photo of the resistor connector and the reason why I changed the blower and resistor. Last thing: this may be the opportunity to change the cabin filter because it is accessible.

I would like to provide an important clarification for owners of a Clio 2 phase 2 with AUTO air conditioning (because this tutorial appears on the first page of Google searches and unfortunately misled me).
If like me you are therefore in automatic air conditioning, the heating resistor is not on the blower but to its right (when you remove the cover as seen in photo number 1, it is at the top right under the cover). And it is infinitely easier than dismantling the blower.. 2 screws and it's fixed! I would have liked to know this before wasting time dismantling and reassembling the blower and I therefore hope that my message will one day be useful to another beginner like me :)
Thank you. After having dismantled mine which had been out of order for months (occasional car), I fiddled with the carbon brushes and cleaned the contacts on the rotor, then tested it: it works. After putting it back in place, great, my ventilation is repaired. Saving of around €90! Yay.
