Introduction

This tutorial shows how to change an absolute pressure sensor on Renault Clio 2 1.4 16v.

This car has difficulty starting, unstable idle, lots of vibrations and the accelerator does not respond well.

I suspect the absolute pressure sensor because it plays a very important role in the management of the injection. Without it the calculator works blindly and cannot correctly control the injectors, which could cause the symptoms I just mentioned. This sensor does not work like a flow meter but it has a somewhat similar function.

  1.
remove the ashtray

open the tab

turn on the ignition and perform a diagnosis using the tool
    • remove the ashtray

    • open the tab

    • turn on the ignition and perform a diagnosis using the tool

    • Despite the very bad engine behavior and even disconnecting the absolute pressure sensor, no fault code is recorded. I think a warning light would have appeared if I had driven a few kilometers but the car was much too dangerous as it was.

  3.
grab the sensor socket

lift the tab slightly

and pull to unplug

  4.
dislodge the hose from its clip

lever with a flat screwdriver (hold the sensor with the other hand, we don't want to break it)

  5.
I opted for second-hand. The sensors are not quite the same shape (not the same equipment manufacturer) but the reference is identical: 7700101762.

the connectivity is obviously the same

  6.
lubricate the sensor gasket (I use engine oil)

Lubricate so as not to tear the seal during assembly. If the seal is damaged, additional air will be sucked into the engine. We want to avoid this. Do not put oil in the sensor head.

present the sensor (clean the surface with a cloth)

    • and press to put it in place

  7.
present the catch

and press to put in place (you should hear a "click")

put the hose back in place
    • present the catch

  8.
You will need to clear the fault (if you had one) using the diagnostic tool

start and check that the car is working well

Replace the OBD port tab and the ashtray

    • start and check that the car is working well

    • Replace the OBD port tab and the ashtray

    • Everything went back to normal after changing the sensor; that was the problem.

Hello, I advise you to change this sensor indeed. The two problems may be linked.

Hello, today I ran my car through the diagnostic case, do you know if this part can also affect the oxygen sensor, the one located at the catalyst? Or are these 2 different problems. Because I have these 2 faults, lambda sensor and that of the intake sensor pressure sensor.

Knowing that I changed the lambda sensor last Sunday but the fault comes back again and again despite me deleting it.

Thank you in advance for your reply.
