Introduction
This tutorial shows you the steps to change a steering rod on your Peugeot. The intervention was carried out on the passenger side.
-
-
Steering rod
-
Nut securing the ball joint to the spindle.
-
Dust bellows on rack side.
-
-
-
Using a 16mm flat wrench, loosen the nut so that you can subsequently unscrew the ball joint.
-
Using a 17mm socket, remove the ball joint nut.
-
Disconnect the ball joint from the spindle.
-
-
-
Unscrew the ball joint by counting the number of turns. For me 24 turns.
-
Remove the bellows by pulling on it.
-
You can spray some lubricant to make it easier to slide.
-
On the driver's side, the gaiter is different but it's the same principle: cut the cable ties then pull on the gaiter.

-
Don't forget to put the 2 lock washers. For the direction, refer to those of the connecting rod that you have just removed.
-
I reused the bellows which was in good condition.
-
Clean the rack bearing.
-
Reassembly is carried out in reverse order.
-
Don't forget to do a toe adjustment after this operation.
