Introduction

The starter is located under the air box, so you will need to remove the air box to access it.

  1. 
disconnect the negative terminal of the battery

you can also disconnect the positive using a 10mm flat wrench

remove the hot air hose

undo the duct clip (1/4 turn)

undo the air duct clamp, 7mm wrench, and remove it from the air sleeve

    • undo the air duct clamp, 7mm wrench, and remove it from the air sleeve

unscrew the carburetor cover screw, 10mm wrench

undo the staple

unscrew the collar between the cover and the air box, 7mm key
    • unscrew the carburetor cover screw, 10mm wrench

    • undo the staple

    • unscrew the collar between the cover and the air box, 7mm key

  4. 
undo the 2 hoses from the fairing

undo the breather hose and unclip the hose that is right next to it (often on old TU engines, it does not hold)

and remove the headdress
    • undo the 2 hoses from the fairing

    • undo the breather hose and unclip the hose that is right next to it (often on old TU engines, it does not hold)

    • and remove the headdress

remove the throttle and choke cables and the fuel hose from the clip attached to the air sleeve

lift the air box and rotate it, then route the air duct under the hoses and cables

remove the air box/air duct assembly

place a rag over the carburetor to prevent anything from falling into it

remove the solenoid plug

move the rubber protection away from the + starter

unscrew the nut of the + starter using a 13mm wrench and remove the 2 + wires
    • remove the solenoid plug

unscrew the 3 starter fixing screws using a 13mm wrench

remove the tab (it is used to hold the air box)

remove the starter
    • unscrew the 3 starter fixing screws using a 13mm wrench

    • remove the tab (it is used to hold the air box)

    • remove the starter

introduce the starter after ensuring that the centering pin is present on the gearbox

It may be stuck to the old starter, in which case it will need to be recovered.

    • advance the other 2 screws, taking care to put the air box bracket back in place, and tighten the 3 screws securely using the 13mm wrench

connect the solenoid plug

Replace the 2 + wires and tighten the nut using the 13mm wrench (there is a washer to replace before screwing the nut)

present the air box by passing the air duct under the various cables and hoses

then rotate to put everything in place

check that the air box lug is in its housing

put the air duct back into the sleeve

Do not tighten the clamp yet as you may need to tilt the conduit to get everything back into place.

    • Put the choke and throttle cables and the fuel hose back into the plastic clip

push the cover onto the air box

replace the breather hose

position the cover on the carburetor
    • push the cover onto the air box

    • replace the breather hose

    • position the cover on the carburetor

lock the carburetor clip

tighten the cap screw using the 10mm wrench

tighten the collar using the 7mm wrench
    • lock the carburetor clip

    • tighten the cap screw using the 10mm wrench

    • tighten the collar using the 7mm wrench

reconnect the 2 air hoses to the fairing

screw the air duct collar, 7mm wrench

set up the hot air pipe
    • reconnect the 2 air hoses to the fairing

    • screw the air duct collar, 7mm wrench

    • set up the hot air pipe

  18. 
put back the hose which is next to the breather

it didn't fit on my car so i put 2 small plastic collars to keep it in place

connect the battery

and test the starter
