Introduction
If the brake lights do not come on when you brake on your 106, the brake light switch is probably the cause. This is a known fault on these cars.

Move the retaining tab away from the immobilizer box
-
and push back
-
to dislodge him
-
This step is not necessarily mandatory but it makes access easier.
-
-
-
disconnect the contactor plug by pulling upwards
-
and remove the switch by pulling upwards
-
it should come quite easily
-
It is not screwed on contrary to appearances; it is fitted with notches for adjustment which clip onto the white plastic washer.
-
-
-
compare the 2 parts
-
The contactor can be tested with a multimeter (continuity) if you use a used part
-
in the released position, the current must flow; there must be continuity between the 2 terminals of the contactor
-
in the pressed position, the current must not pass; there must be no continuity between the 2 terminals of the contactor
-
-
-
insert the switch by pressing it
-
plug in the socket by pressing it
-
to adjust, it is better to be 2: the moving part of the switch must be just flush with the brake pedal tab (in blue)
-
We want to make the brake lights come on as soon as we press the brake, even slightly. It will probably take several attempts.
-
-
-
test that everything is working correctly and fine-tune the settings if necessary (hence the interest in having two people: one person who adjusts inside the car, the other who tells him when the lights come on)
-
-
-
To reassemble the immobilizer box, we will slide its 2 plastic rails
-
along the plastic mounting tab
-
going from back to front (until locking)
