Introduction
How to replace the rear shock absorbers on your 2007 Clio 3 1.5 Dci 70
-
-
Using a jack, raise the front of the vehicle at the jacking point indicated on the rocker panel until you can place a jack stand at the rear jacking point.
-
Lower the front of the vehicle so that the rear is resting on the jack stand.
-
Remove the wheel cover (if present).
-
Using a cross, remove the 4 wheel mounting screws.
-
The manufacturer's reference of the part is engraved on the bottom of the shock absorber (boss side). Order the same reference on Oscaro.
-
-
-
Using a flat-head screwdriver, unclip the trunk trim retaining clips (1 at the threshold, 1 at the rear shelf rest)
-
Release the trunk mat.
-
We can see the attachment (stud) of the top of the shock absorber appearing.
-
-
-
Using the 16mm combination wrench, loosen the top bolt of the shock absorber while holding the stud with the adjustable wrench to prevent the shock absorber from rotating. Do not unscrew the bolt completely.
-
Using a jack, raise the rear axle slightly under the spring to relieve the pressure.
-
-
-
Unscrew the bottom shock absorber mounting screw using an 18mm socket.
-
Finish unscrewing the mounting nut at the top of the shock absorber until it falls off.
-
Carefully remove the rubber that acts as a shock absorber cup at the top of the shock absorber.
-
Compare old and the new shock absorbers
-
-
-
Unscrew the nut at the top of the shock absorber.
-
Remove the first rubber.
-
-
-
Insert the shock absorber into the housing from below.
-
From inside the trunk, while holding the shock absorber, add the rubber cone (widest part at the top) and screw the nut slightly so that the shock absorber remains suspended. Do not screw the nut completely.
-
-
-
Using the jack, align the bottom mount (boss) with the rear axle so that the mounting screw can be inserted.
-
Apply thread lock to the screw.
-
-
-
Tighten the bottom shock absorber fixing screw to 10.5daN-m
-
Inside the trunk, finish screwing the tightening bolt (approximately 2daN-m) while holding the stud using the adjustable wrench.
-
Replace the trunk mat
-
Remove the jack from under the spring.
-
Replacing the wheel and hubcap.
-
Using a jack, raise the car to remove the jack stand.
-
Do the same for the other rear shock absorber.
