Introduction
This tutorial shows how to change the fuel filter on 207 1.4 hdi 70.
Changing the fuel filter on the 1.4hdi is not very difficult but these engines are known to be very difficult to re-prime.
The method I describe here makes rebooting very easy. I had absolutely no problems restarting (no jerks, no engine cut-outs).
Tools
Parts
-
-
unscrew the 3 screws holding the air filter cover, T25 torx key
-
lift the lid
-
and remove it
-
-
-
unscrew the screw on the top of the filter, T20 torx key and remove it and the plastic jumper
-
I placed a rag in the intake so nothing would fall in by accident.
-
spread the pipe on top of the filter
-
unscrew and remove the filter retaining screw, T25 torx key
-
-
-
remove the fuel outlet hose by pressing the colored tabs
-
and pulling
-
Have a rag ready for the diesel that will leak.
-
do the same for the fuel supply hose
-
You could definitely use plastic caps (provided with the new filter) to block the filter inlet and outlet and thus avoid spilling diesel.
-
-
-
unscrew the air hose retaining screw next to the flow meter, T27 torx key
-
and push the whole thing down
-
-
-
turn the filter over to access the electrical plug
-
Pull the small tab away from the plug and pull to disconnect
-
remove the filter
-
-
-
compare filters
-
make sure that the new filter has the electrical part
-
remove the caps on the new filter
-
-
-
If the new filter does not have the heater (electric part), it will be necessary to recover it from the old one.
-
unlock the heater using a multi-socket wrench or an adjustable wrench
-
unscrew by hand
-
take out the heater
-
-
-
remove the heater o-ring
-
oil the new O-ring (it is supplied)
-
and put it down, against the stop
-
-
-
remove the blanking cap on the new filter
-
screw the heater in by hand
-
lock with key
-
Moderate tightening, these are plastic parts.
-
-
-
the filter has a leg
-
which will need to be put back into its housing in the engine
-
-
-
present the filter lying down to be able to plug the electrical outlet
-
press to lock
-
You should hear a "click".
-
-
-
install the filter tab into its lug (see step 8)
-
and rotate it
-
put in the screw and tighten it, T25 torx key
-
-
-
fit the air hose and tighten the screw, T27 torx key
-
put the hose on the filter, the plastic rider with its screw and tighten, T20 torx key
-
connect the diesel supply hose
-
You should hear a "click".
-
-
-
remove the cloth if you have put one
-
install the cover
-
There are 3 legs to put into the lugs.
-
screw the 3 cover screws, T25 torx key
-
-
-
I remind you that at this stage, the diesel outlet hose is still not connected.
-
operate the primer bulb
-
We will have placed a rag under the filter outlet because diesel will leak.
-
until the diesel flows (it took a good 2 minutes in my case)
-
then connect the diesel outlet hose
-
-
-
If you have difficulty repriming, you can use a tool that plugs into the diesel circuit:
-
commercially available
-
or very easy to make yourself
-
-
-
Take the old filter to a recycling center
-
I strongly advise against reusing the diesel found there because it most likely contains a lot of water.

Hello, is it possible to fill the filter with a syringe and diesel before connecting the hoses?
