Introduction
This tutorial shows how to change the fuel filter on Dacia Duster 1.5dci equipped with the alternative assembly.
-
-
lift the car on the front right side using the jack
-
place a candle under the spar
-
and unscrew the 5 studs using a 17mm wrench (or the crank supplied with the jack) to remove the wheel
-
The studs will have been previously released before lifting the car, unless you have an impact wrench as is the case here.
-
-
-
unscrew the screw on the wheel arch side using the T20 torx key
-
then unscrew the 2 lower screws, torx key T20 and T30
-
then move the mudguard aside to access the diesel filter
-
The front mudguard can be completely removed if desired, but this is not necessary.
-
-
-
unscrew the 3 nuts from the filter holder fixing sheet, 10mm wrench, and remove it
-
disconnect the fuel inlet and outlet hoses: press on the green part and pull upwards
-
Note the direction carefully; you can make a mark with a marker to avoid mixing up the hoses.
-
Provide a container underneath to collect any fuel that leaks.
-
Unplug the electrical outlet (press the tab and pull) and remove the filter holder
-
-
-
unlock the 5 screws on the cover using the T30 torx key
-
unblock the diesel filter by screwing the plastic screw supplied with the new filter in place of the bleed screw
-
and by tapping the whole thing against a wooden board for example
-
Don't hit too hard, we just want to unstick the filter. We'll remove the screw right after.
-
-
-
finish unscrewing the 5 cover screws by hand and drop the bottom cover
-
If it is not detached, unlock the top cover by inserting a flat screwdriver into the notches and making a 1/4 turn
-
remove the top cover
-
-
-
compare
-
we won't worry if the two filters are not completely identical; there are two different but compatible models
-
The plastic screw supplied with the new filter is mainly used to unlock filters whose part fits perfectly into the tank (right model).
-
Clean the tank and lid with a lint-free cloth
-
-
-
remove the o-ring from the cover using a small flathead screwdriver
-
oil the new o-ring
-
and put it in place
-
-
-
proceed in the same way for the O-ring of the bleed screw
-
-
-
set up the new filter
-
Pay attention to the meaning.
-
present the cover
-
push it in, making sure it is correctly aligned with the tank
-
-
-
the new filter normally comes with new screws and washers
-
I advise not to use them: I stretched one and broke the other while I tightened to the prescribed torque with the torque wrench
-
in my case, the new screws were not worth the original screws, so I reused the latter
-
-
-
put the bottom cover in place
-
screw in the 5 cover screws by hand
-
then finish with the torque wrench, torque of 11N.m
-
-
-
present the filter holder
-
connect the diesel hoses
-
Do not mix up the hoses. The diesel inlet is on the right, the outlet is in the middle. Once again, we will have taken care to make a mark before disassembling.
-
If you want to re-prime more quickly, you can connect the inlet hose, operate the primer bulb until diesel flows out of the outlet in the middle and reconnect the outlet hose.
-
connect the electrical outlet
-
-
-
place the filter holder on its support
-
put in place the fixing sheet
-
and screw the 3 nuts using the 10mm socket wrench
-
-
-
put the mudguard back in place and tighten the screw on the wheel arch side using the T20 torx key
-
then screw in the 2 bottom screws using the T20 torx key
-
and T30
-
-
-
reassemble the wheel (tightening torque of the studs 110N.m), remove the candle and the jack
-
pump using the primer bulb until it becomes hard
-
start and let it run for 1 or 2 minutes
-
