Introduction

The model presented is a Mazda 6 II 2.2 MZR-CD Break 16V 129 hp

  1. 
The air box is located to the right of the engine. Unclip the 4 clips circled in the 2nd photo, by hand. Then, unclip the air flow meter electrical connector framed in the 2nd photo, still by hand. Then, unclip the sheath from its clip, circled in the 3rd photo.

Rotate the top of the box to remove the used filter. If there is any large debris at the bottom of the air box, take the opportunity to remove it.

Make sure the new filter has exactly the same dimensions as the old one.

Install the new filter (photo 1). Making sure that the seal integrated into the filter is properly in place (photo 2), close the air box with the 4 clips (photo 3).

Reclip the electrical sheath (photo 1) and reconnect the air flow meter connector (photo 2).

This model is a Mazda 6 II, it is not a “phase 2” (just like a Clio I, Clio II, each generation can have “phases”). There is only the first generation of Mazda 6 which has 2 phases, the 1 being dated until 2005, then from 2006 to 2008 it is indeed the slightly restyled phase 2. From 2009 it is the 2nd generation of Mazda (Mazda 6 II) and from 2013 we have the 3rd generation (Mazda 6 III or skyactiv).
