Introduction

Changing the air filter on Fiat Grande Punto 1.2 i 65cv

A very simple and fairly quick operation. You will only need a 10 socket wrench (or socket ratchet) and a 7 socket wrench (or socket ratchet).

  1. 
Locate the two nuts securing the air box. One on the left, the other on the right of the air box.

The first one is located next to the oil filler cap.

    • The second is located on the right of the air box, in line with the first.

The air box is also held in place by two rubber clips,

the first is located on the air inlet tube.

    • the second on the air box. (at the level of the windshield bay)

With the help of'une clef a pipe de 10 or using a ratchet wrench and a 10 socket, unscrew the two nuts identified in the previous step.

    • Then unclip the two rubber clips by pulling to release the air box

With the box released, you now have access to open the air box to access the filter.

    • Unscrew in the air'une clef à pipe de 7 (or a ratchet wrench with a 7mm socket) the nuts to open the air box. There are 6 in total, 3 are located above, and 3 below.

With the air box open, you now see the filter,

Identify the direction in which it is mounted,

Remove the used air filter, pass a cloth through the air box to clean it
    • With the air box open, you now see the filter,

    • Identify the direction in which it is mounted,

    • Remove the used air filter, pass a cloth through the air box to clean it

    • Replacer le nouveau filtre à air in the same sense as the old one.

  6. 
Reattach the 6 fixing nuts to close the air box,

Replace the air box in its original location, reclip the two rubbers (air inlet tube and air box)

Reattach the two nuts securing the box
    • Reattach the 6 fixing nuts to close the air box,

    • Replace the air box in its original location, reclip the two rubbers (air inlet tube and air box)

    • Reattach the two nuts securing the box

    • Finally, write down in your maintenance log the date and mileage at which you changed the air filter.
