Introduction
This tutorial shows you how to replace the camshaft position sensor on a 2002 Ford Fiesta V 1.3i Petrol.
-
-
The camshaft position sensor is located on the cylinder head cover next to the engine oil filler cap.
-
-
-
-
Remove the first air pipe, to do this turn it slightly then pull
-
-
-
The second air hose is held in place by a clamp that can simply be unclipped with a flat-blade screwdriver.
-
Then pull on the pipe to extract it from its conduit.
-
-
-
The air filter housing is held in place by 4 plastic lugs, the upper 2 being on the cylinder head cover and the lower 2 on the intake manifold.
-
Start by unclipping the lower part by placing your hands under the underside of the air filter housing. You have to pull firmly while trying not to break these unfortunately rather fragile lugs.
-
-
-
Then unclip the upper left part and then the upper right part in the same way.
-
-
-
You can remove the air filter box completely.
-
The camshaft position sensor and its electrical connector are now more accessible.
-
-
-
Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor, to do this press the metal tab then pull on the connector.
-
-
-
Unscrew the screw that holds the sensor to the cylinder head cover using a 10mm socket wrench.
-
Retrieve the screw, being careful not to drop it.
-
-
-
Check that the new sensor matches the old one both in terms of its attachment and the electrical connector.
-
-
-
Clean the sensor location with a cloth.
-
Position the sensor on the cylinder head cover and press firmly to insert it properly.
-
-
-
Insert the screw by hand and tighten it with the 10 socket wrench.
-
If you have a torque wrench with a 10mm socket, you can tighten to the 9Nm torque recommended by Ford.
-
Reconnect the connector, making sure to clip it securely.
-
-
-
Grease the 4 fixing points of the air filter housing, which will facilitate both its replacement and future removal.
-
Place the air filter box above the 4 fixing points, and press firmly on each corner of the box to fit it perfectly.

Very good job, the photos are really great. I will try to get inspiration from them for my next tutorials.
